I am in a bit of a pickle. I did a domain migration from an NT 4.0 domain to an SBS 2003 domain.

The NT 4.0 domain was a mess. So there was a renaming of the domain, renaming of client PCs, renaming of user accounts (and the introduction of passwords), etc - in a large part instigated by the client. I was told about their payroll system, their accounting system, and some other proprietary software, and plans were made, and everything went smoothly here. No real mention was made of the 2Point Faxserve installation (client and server) on one of the workstations, at least not until it didn't work. Changing the domain name was bad. Changing the host name was bad. Changing the user names was bad.

There are so many places where 2Point has this information is squirrelled away both in a couple of Access databases and in the registry. Nothing worked.

The Brooktrout modem lost its drivers and is now an unrecognized device. Services wouldn't start. And on and on and on. After much pain, I have services running. Users can log in. But there is no modem. I have the Brooktrout installation wizards but they don't fix the problem.

I am tempted to do a clean re-install, but the client has lost their hard copy documentation and licensing information. The local 2Point representative knows they own the software but can not find their licensing information either. Well everything is running. I did a clean reinstall of FaxServe (a newer build) after the client found some of their licensing info.

The particular Brooktrout modem is weird. 2Point supports it as a 'legacy device' - strange - it is a PCI card. I am not sure how it works with 2Point because Windows does not recognize it as an installed and configured device - it remains an unknown PCI network device as far as Windows is concerned even after running (again and again to get the damned thing working) Brooktrouts config app - yet, the 2Point software sees it and works quite happily with it once the modem config successfully set.

I must say that the tech support forum at 2Point was very helpful. The company mod got me an activation code for the new software. Very helpful.
